Attorney Kathleen Kienitz conducted a do-it-yourself advanced directives session at the Andy Valley Senior Expo which was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn in June. She also conducted a session at the Auburn Parks and Recreation Facility on financial abuse and scams.
Kathleen Kienitz will be a presenter at the Elder Law & Estate Planning Institute to be held at the Augusta Civic Center, May 5-6, which will be featuring nationally known expert on retirement benefits, Natalie Choate. Ms. Kienitz’s topic will be on the use of Supplemental Needs Trusts in planning for people receiving disability benefits.
Elder Law Offices of Kathleen Kienitz will have a booth at the upcoming Aging Well Living Well event at Sunday River in October 2017 , sponsored by Seniors Plus. They will be handing out a lot of valuable information relevant to elder law and estate planning as well as other goodies. Stay tuned for more details as the date approached.

Elder Law Offices of Kathleen Kienitz is once again a presence at the annual Senior Expo fair held at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston: January 21, 2017, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Aging Well Living Well Expo at Sunday River was a great success. There were ongoing seminars throughout the day, and we were among lots of venders where attendees could get valuable information and lots of goodies.
Here’s our table where we had lots of handouts, including a do-it-yourself Maine Advance Directives form. We also gave away (my favorite) pens and lots of chocolate.
It was great getting to know some of the other people and businesses that serve seniors in Maine.
We presented a seminar on the documents that a caregiver should have for a family member who is facing incapacity and how guardianship and conservatorship proceedings work when advance planning wasn’t possible. But, there were plenty of fun sessions too, like this Zumba class.
A highlight of the day was a Chondola ride after lunch up to the summit at Sunday River. It almost makes me want to learn to ski.
The seminar will be geared toward:
- Insurance professionals
- Nursing home administrators
